Award-winning brake patent sets SawStop apart

The world's safest table saws, SawStop has an award-winning patented braking system that will emergency stop the blade on contact with human skin to eliminate serious operator injury. Should the operator touch his SawStop blade, SawStop's patented Safety System instantaneously stops the spinning blade. The SawStop blade carries a small electrical signal while spinning, which should it make human contact, the change in electrical conduct due to skin touching the blade, activates the SawStop Safety System.

This instantly and simultaneously shuts the SawStop motor down as an aluminium brake springs into the path of the blade to bring it to an immediate and complete stop. The resultant angular momentum furthermore impels the blade beneath the table to prevent further contact. All of this happens within 5 milliseconds.

To reset, simply inspect the blade and replace if damaged, replace the brake cartridge, and 90 seconds later, you will be back at work, fingers, and all!
