Festool HKC 55 KEB-Basic Cordless Circular Saw

At a Glance: 18 V cordless circular saw with KickbackStop, 160 mm saw blade, 55 mm cutting depth and FSK cross-cutting guide rail compatibility

The Festool HKC 55 KEB-Basic is a powerful cordless circular saw designed for mobile timber cutting, cross cuts, rip cuts and accurate angled cuts on site. Built around an 18 V battery platform and brushless EC-TEC motor, this saw gives professional users the freedom to cut without a mains cable while still delivering strong cutting performance. With KickbackStop safety technology, an integrated guide wedge, pendulum hood remote control and compatibility with Festool FSK cross-cutting guide rails and FS guide rails, the HKC 55 KEB-Basic is a practical cordless cutting solution for carpentry, roofing, timber construction and installation work.

Mobile circular sawing with Festool system accuracy

The HKC 55 KEB-Basic is designed for users who need a cordless saw that can work freehand, on Festool FS guide rails or as part of the FSK mobile cross-cutting system. It is especially useful where timber, sheet material, roof battens, decking, boards or cladding must be cut quickly and accurately on site.

Product highlights

  • Cordless cutting power: 18 V battery operation gives freedom of movement for site work, roofing and timber construction.
  • Brushless EC-TEC motor: Delivers powerful cutting performance with efficient energy use and low maintenance.
  • KickbackStop technology: Helps reduce the risk of injury from kickback when sawing or plunging into the workpiece.
  • FSK cross-cutting rail compatibility: Allows fast, accurate and repeatable cross cuts and angled cuts when used with suitable FSK rails.
  • FS guide rail compatibility: Supports precise straight cuts with Festool guide rails.
  • 1.6 mm thin-cut saw blade: Designed for cordless sawing, lighter cutting pressure and longer battery runtime.
  • Central angle adjustment: Mitre angle adjustment from 0° to 50° for accurate bevel and angled cuts.
  • Basic version: Supplied without battery pack and charger, ideal for users already using the Festool 18 V platform.

Extra Information

  • This is the Basic version and is supplied without battery pack and charger.
  • The saw is compatible with Festool 18 V battery packs, with the 8.0 Ah Li-HighPower battery pack recommended for top performance and runtime.
  • It is also compatible with the 5.0 Ah Li-HighPower battery pack.
  • The HKC 55 KEB-Basic can be used freehand, with Festool FS guide rails or with Festool FSK cross-cutting guide rails.
  • FSK rails are available in different cutting lengths and are useful for mobile repeat cross cuts and angled cuts.
  • The Basic set does not include an FSK cross-cutting guide rail or FS guide rail.
  • For best results, use the correct Festool 160 mm thin-kerf saw blade for the material being cut.

Pro Tips

  • Use the HKC 55 with an FSK rail when you need repeatable cross cuts on roofing timber, decking, battens or board material.
  • Use a Festool FS guide rail when long, straight and accurate cuts are required.
  • Fit a high-capacity 18 V battery when cutting thicker timber or doing repeated cuts during site work.
  • Use the correct blade for the material. A sharp, thin-kerf blade makes cordless cutting faster and less battery-hungry.
  • Connect dust extraction when working indoors or when cutting dusty board materials such as OSB, chipboard or fibreboard.
  • Do not fight the saw through the cut. If the saw is complaining, the blade, feed speed or material support probably needs attention.

How to Use

  • Select the correct 160 mm saw blade for the material being cut.
  • Remove the battery pack before fitting or changing the saw blade.
  • Use the FastFix system to fit the blade securely.
  • Insert a compatible Festool 18 V battery pack.
  • Set the cutting depth according to the material thickness.
  • Set the required cutting angle between 0° and 50° if angled cutting is needed.
  • Use the saw freehand, or attach it to a compatible Festool FS or FSK guide rail for guided cutting.
  • Connect a suitable dust extractor to the 27/36 mm extraction connection where dust control is required.
  • Start the saw and allow the blade to reach full speed before entering the material.
  • Guide the saw steadily through the cut without forcing it.
  • Allow the saw blade to stop completely before lifting the saw away or placing it down.

Features

  • 18 V battery drive: Provides cordless operation for mobile cutting tasks.
  • 5 200 min⁻¹ idle speed: Supports fast cutting progress through timber and board materials.
  • 160 mm saw blade: Provides cutting capacity up to 55 mm at 90°.
  • KickbackStop: Intelligent safety feature helps stop the saw blade in kickback situations.
  • Integrated guide wedge: Helps prevent the saw blade from jamming during the cut.
  • Pendulum hood remote control: Allows the guard to be opened safely and conveniently while keeping hands away from the blade.
  • Spring-assisted plunge-cut function: Supports controlled plunge cuts to a preset depth.
  • FastFix blade change: Makes saw blade changes quick and easier with the spindle stop system.
  • CLEANTEC extraction connection: 27/36 mm dust extraction connection for cleaner cutting with compatible extraction equipment.
  • Systainer³ storage: Keeps the saw and accessories protected and organised during transport.

Benefits

  • More freedom on site: Cordless operation means fewer extension leads and easier movement around roofs, timber frames and work areas.
  • Faster cross-cutting workflow: When paired with an FSK rail, the saw becomes a mobile cross-cutting system for repeatable straight and angled cuts.
  • Improved safety: KickbackStop, the guide wedge and pendulum hood control help make sawing more controlled and safer.
  • Cleaner cutting results: Guide rail compatibility helps improve cut accuracy and finish quality.
  • Longer battery efficiency: The thin-cut 1.6 mm blade is designed to reduce cutting resistance for cordless work.
  • Practical timber construction tool: Ideal for cutting battens, boards, cladding, decking and sheet materials on the job.

Application

  • Rip and cross cuts in materials up to 55 mm thick
  • Mobile cutting on work sites
  • Cutting roof battens and profile boards to size
  • Cutting timber for wooden structures
  • Cutting boarding and shuttering to size
  • Cutting boards, cladding boards and decking to size
  • Cutting OSB boards, chipboard and pressure-resistant wood fibre insulation boards
  • Accurate angled cuts with compatible FSK cross-cutting guide rails
  • Precise straight cuts with compatible Festool FS guide rails

Safety

  • Wear eye, ear and dust protection when cutting timber, board products, decking, cladding or construction materials.
  • Use the correct saw blade for the material being cut.
  • Check that the saw blade is sharp, undamaged and securely fitted before use.
  • Do not bypass or ignore safety features such as KickbackStop, the guide wedge and the quick-acting brake.
  • Clamp or support the workpiece properly before cutting.
  • Keep hands clear of the blade path and never reach underneath the workpiece while cutting.
  • Allow the blade to reach full speed before entering the material.
  • Do not force the saw through the cut; use a steady feed rate suitable for the blade and material.
  • Use dust extraction whenever possible, especially when cutting OSB, chipboard, fibreboard or dusty materials.
  • Remove the battery pack before changing blades, adjusting the saw or carrying out maintenance.
  • Allow the saw blade to stop completely before lifting the saw from the cut or placing it down.
